Questa è la riproduzione della lettera inviata dalla NBC in risposta a tutti i fan che avevano protestato per la cancellazione di Star Trek.

NATIONAL BROADCASTING COMPANY, INC.
THIRTY ROCKFELLER PLAZA, NEW YORK, NY 10200 CIRCLE 78300

Dear
Viewer:

We
appreciate your loyalty to STAR TREK, and want you to know that we too
are disappointed that the program failed to develop the broad appeal
necessary for maintaining it in our schedule.

A national
network like NBC, as a program supplier for hundreds of stations around
the country, must take into account nationwide program preferences,
especially in its entertainment offerings. To ignore these
preferences, as indicated to us by continuous research studies, would be
unresponsive to millions of our viewers.

We are
also obliged to refresh our schedule with program innovations, which we
will do in replacing STAR TREK in the fall. It was through this
process, of course, that STAR TREK itself came to our schedule.

Although
we realize that a letter probably will not ease your displeasure, we do
want to thank you for writing and giving us the chance to explain our
point of view.

Sincerly
yours,

Bettye
